In our October 2025 Newsletter, Schmidt Kramer highlights recent attorney recognitions, community events, and personal milestones, along with a practical legal tip on GAP insurance. This edition reflects both our professional accomplishments and our commitment to clients and community.
Jurisprudential Distinction & Firm Recognition
Schmidt Kramer celebrates several honors that underscore the strength of our legal team. Partner Scott Cooper was named Lawyer of the Year in Insurance Law, a distinction awarded by Best Lawyers in America. Several other attorneys, including Michael Kosik, Dennis Kergick, Gerard Kramer, and Daryl Christopher, were also recognized for their exceptional work across multiple practice areas. These awards highlight the trust placed in our attorneys by both peers and clients, and they reflect the firm’s ongoing dedication to advocacy and results.
Community Involvement & Events
We are proud to host the 38th annual UCP golf tournament at the Harrisburg Country Club, continuing a tradition of supporting UCP of Central Pennsylvania. In Philadelphia, Scott Cooper attended a ceremony honoring Justice Sandra Schultz Newman, the first woman elected to the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, as the courtroom was officially named in her honor. These moments remind us of the importance of giving back and participating in milestones that strengthen the profession and our communities.
Personal & Team Milestones
Beyond professional achievements, the newsletter also celebrates important personal highlights from within the Schmidt Kramer team. Partner Scott Cooper’s daughter Leah announced her engagement, a joyful milestone we are proud to share. Attorney Kaleigh Ryder’s son Sean delivered a stirring rendition of the National Anthem for the Harrisburg Senators in August, performing with his daycare friends. Several other team members and their families also achieved personal goals, from academic reading challenges to new athletic coaching positions. These stories reflect the strong sense of connection that exists across our firm and remind us that life’s personal victories are just as meaningful as professional ones. This issue also features the return of our popular Pet Corner.
Legal Insight: The Value of GAP Insurance
This edition also provides a practical tip on protecting yourself financially in the event of a serious car accident. Many drivers owe more on their auto loans than their vehicles are worth, which can leave them responsible for large balances if their cars are totaled. GAP insurance is designed to cover that difference, ensuring drivers are not burdened with unexpected debt after a loss. Our attorneys encourage clients to understand how this coverage works and consider whether it fits their circumstances. Knowledge of this option can help families make more secure financial decisions.
