Several large auto insurance companies have decided to offer refunds to their customers. Learn more below about money that may be available to help you pay your auto insurance bills over the next month or two.

Car Insurers Offering Refunds

These are some of the car insurance companies offering refunds during this difficult time:

Liberty Mutual

This company’s Personal Auto Customer Relief Refund will give customers about $250 million. Those who own personal auto insurance policies will get a 15 percent refund on two months of premiums. That is 15 percent of the premium as of April 7, 2020.

You do not need to do anything to get the refund, as it will happen automatically. You will receive the refund via your most recent payment option or check.

Nationwide

Employees and those who have a policy can receive a one-time premium refund of $50 per policy for each policy that was in effect as of March 31, 2020. These refunds will be automatically credited via your most recent payment method, within 30 days of April 9.

Allstate

The Shelter-in-Place Payback program will provide over $600 million to car insurance customers between this month and next. Personal auto insurance customers should get about 15 percent of their monthly premium refunded for April and May. The money should be automatically deposited through your payment method or through the Allstate mobile app, depending on your preference.

GEICO

Auto and motorcycle insurance policyholders can get a 15 percent credit if their policies are set to renew between April 8 and Oct. 7, 2020. People who buy new policies during this period can also get the credit.

USAA

The insurer will return $520 million to members. Everyone with an auto insurance policy that was in effect as of March 31, 2020, will receive a credit of 20 percent on two months’ premiums.

Farmers

The company is offering a reduction in premiums of 25 percent for the month of April.
