Series of Weekend Accidents in the Area Lead to Multiple Injuries

highway accidentsOn Friday, three semi-trailers were involved in a crash at mile marker 81 on interstate 81. According to police, some diesel fuel was spilled which led to traffic delays. No one was injured in the wreck. However, shortly after the roads re-opened on I-81, another truck accident on westbound Interstate 78 closed the roads down for hours. According to witnesses, the driver of one truck was trapped under the dashboard and had to be extricated.

In Lemoyne, three people were injured in an auto accident around 5 p.m. on the 1200 block of State Street. According to the West Shore Regional Police Department, a white Honda was headed east on State Street when it tried to make a left turn into a parking lot. A black BMW hit the Honda, which then caused it to spin around. The Honda then struck a blue Ford vehicle.

The drivers of the Honda and BMW, along with a passenger, were taken to the hospital for treatment.

On Saturday afternoon, a woman suffered traumatic injuries in a car accident on Interstate 81 in Cumberland County. According to police, the woman lost control of her car while driving north. She left the road, then went back onto the highway and her vehicle began to spin. Her car hit another driver who was forced into the median. The woman’s car then left the roadway and rolled several times.

On Saturday night, a motorcyclist was injured after he was struck by a pickup truck. The motorcycle became wedged underneath the truck. Police have reported that the motorcyclist was stopped to make a left hand turn into a driveway when the truck crashed into him. The motorcyclist was transported to Lancaster General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The pickup truck driver said he failed to see the motorcyclist. There is no information on whether charges will be filed.
