Which Two Pennsylvania Laws Do Most Drivers Forget To Follow In Winter?

Winter drivers in Pennsylvania have enough to deal with between snow and ice.  Also, they have to navigate traffic.  However, there are 2 important Pennsylvania laws which many forget to follow.  It is important to follow them to avoid serious injury and car accidents.

Clearing Off Your Vehicle

In the winter it is important to clear all snow and ice from your vehicle. Not only does it prevent a hazard from snow and ice that may fall from your vehicle, it also provides an unobstructed view.  The law says that when snow or ice is dislodged or falls from a moving vehicle and strikes another vehicle or pedestrian causing death or serious bodily injury the operator of the vehicle from which the snow or ice is dislodged or falls shall be subject to a fine of not less than $200 nor more than $1,000 for each offense.

Your Headlights

When your windshield wipers are on, your headlights should be on, too.

Of course, negotiating with both health and liability insurance companies is a job best suited for advisors with an extensive record of handling such claims. The Harrisburg insurance lawyers at Schmidt Kramer have significant experience in this area of the law; our lawyers spend part of their careers teaching insurance law to other lawyers!
