The Daily Item is reporting that traffic was interrupted on Routes 11-15 for about an hour Monday after a tractor-trailer rammed the rear of a Ford Econoline van, authorities said.
The 18 wheeler accident occurred about 7:40 p.m. in the right northbound lane, about 100 yards south of the K-Mart store.
There was minimal damage to both vehicles, but six passengers in the van were taken by ambulance to local hospitals for observation, borough police said.
It was not disclosed which hospitals they were taken to, and their names were not released by police.
The truck had Ontario, Canada, plates; the Econoline had Pennsylvania plates.
The truck driver, sitting on the side of the road while Shamokin Dam fire and rescue personnel cleared the scene, declined to comment about the accident. After a while, he was called over to speak to an officer.
Traffic was shut down on both northbound lanes from the accident scene to the K-Mart entrance along Route 15.
Some metal debris had to be cleared from the highway before police reopened the left lane at 8:20 p.m.
Several fire police officers spent time examining the truck and van for damage.
