A Pennsylvania personal injury lawyer with more than 26 years experience, Terry Hyman joined SchmidtKramer in April 2004. He obtained a B.S. in chemistry from the University of Pittsburgh and a M.S. in education from Temple University. Mr. Hyman received his J.D. cum laude from the Dickinson School of Law in 1982, winning two academic awards, as well as being selected for the Woolsack Society and Law Review.
He has tried and won cases in every county in Central Pennsylvania, from Franklin to Lancaster and Adams to Lycoming, as well as in Federal Court in Pennsylvania and in Maryland. He has won jury trials involving medical malpractice, defective products, automobile accidents, slip and falls, and on-the-job accidents, including verdicts larger than $1 million.
Mr. Hyman is one of a limited number of lawyers in central Pennsylvania certified as a Civil Advocate by the National Board of Trial Advocacy. He is also designated as a “PennsylvaniaSuperLawyer," an honor given tothe top 5% of attorneys statewide by an independent survey ofother attorneysinthestate. He is a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum, whose membership is limited to attorneys who have obtained verdicts or settlements larger than $1 million. He has recently received an award for his more than 20 years of service on the Board of Governors of the Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers, the premier organization of plaintiffs’ attorneys in the Commonwealth.
He is the current Vice Chairman of the Medical Malpractice Section of the Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association, a position he has held for the last seven years. Mr. Hyman previously served as Chairman of PATLA's Amicus Curiae Committee for a number of years. PATLA honored Mr. Hyman with its George Douglas Jr. Amicus Curiae Award for outstanding and industrious appellate advocacy. He has served as President of the Friends ofCentral PennsylvaniaLegal Service. He is currently on the Civil Procedure and Education Committees of the Dauphin County Bar Association. He is an AdjunctInstructor ofAdvocacy forthePenn State Dickinson School of Law, and lectures regularly on topics relating to the civil justice system.
