Reports In Lancaster Pennsylvania Say 17 Injured In 4 Separate Wrecks In One Day

The July 18, 2011 edition of the  Lancaster New Era is reporting that seventeen people were injured in four separate traffic accidents on July 17, 2011.
The series of crashed began at 11:15 a.m. on Route 222 in East Cocalico Township.  Eight people were injured when the van they were riding in sustained a tire blowout and crashed off the side of Route 222 near the East Church Street overpass.  Police said that Reynaldo Rogue-Rivera was driving a Ford Aerostar north on Route 222 when the left rear tire blew out.  The van skidded off the road and went into a ditch, where it rolled over. The around 5 p.m., two people were injured in a two-car crash on Route 322 in Ephrata Township.  An Ephrata police officer said one of the cars hit a telephone pole, and two people were taken by ambulance to Lancaster General Hospital. Also in West Hempfield Township, two crashes occurred seven minutes apart, injuring seven people.  The first accident occurred at 7:03 p.m. on eastbound Route 30, just west of the Prospect Road exit.  Reports says a woman was changing lanes when she lost control of her vehicle and ir skidded into the center median, where it flipped onto its roof.  Two adults and a 5-year-old boy were taken to Lancaster General Hospital. At 7:10 p.m., four teens were in a car traveling west on Summit Drive when the driver lost control on a curve in the 600 block, and the car struck a tree.  After the collision, the car’s engine caught fire.  All four teens were taken to Lancaster General Hospital.
