Motorist flees wreck that claimed life – Tioga County (Williamsport Sun Gazette)

MANSFIELD – A Tioga County motorist who fled the scene of a crash early Friday morning that killed the passenger riding in his pickup truck later was apprehended and jailed, according to state police.
Ulises Sanchex Cruz, 20, of 2564 Hills Creek Lake Road, Wellsboro, was charged with accident involving death while not properly licensed as a result of the 12:30 a.m. crash that claimed the life of Sergio Moreno Lemus, 38, of Fort Worth, Texas, police said.
Cruz was traveling south on Route 287 near Hammond Lane in Tioga County’s Middlebury Township when his truck struck a guardrail and went down an embankment, rolling over once, police said.
Lemus was ejected from the vehicle and killed instantly, police said. Cruz climbed out of the wreckage and fled on foot, but he was located Friday night at an undisclosed location and taken into custody. Following his arraignment, he was placed in the Tioga County Prison in lieu of $75,000 bail.
