Lancaster County Crash Still Under Investigation

Police identified a pedestrian and a motorist who were killed in a one-vehicle crash Sunday, July 14, 2013, in Columbia, Lancaster County.  Beverly Jean Altland of Columbia, was standing on Lancaster Avenue when an eastbound minivan veered off the road and struck and killed her in a parking lot, The minivan also struck a signpost at Lancaster Avenue Garage and Tire.

Harold Eshleman, of Washington Boro, the driver of the 1997 Plymouth minivan, also was killed in the car wreck.  Eshleman’s wife, Georgia, was a front-seat passenger in his vehicle. The 66-year-old remains in critical condition at an area hospital, Leddy said.

The coroner is still trying to determine if Mr. Eshleman lost consciousness before the crash. His wife reported that he had.
