Lancaster County Accident Kills Pedestrian – Investigating

The Lancaster New Era and Lancaster Online are reporting about an accident which killed a pedestrian yesterday in East Lampeter Township. The police are also asking for help if anyone has information on the accident.

The incident occurred around 6:30 p.m. in the area of 46 Hartman Bridge Road (Route 896), between Rockvale Road and South Cherry Lane, to the rear of the Rockvale Outlets.

East Lampeter Township police identified the deceased as 57-year-old John Michael Benson, of the 100 block of Hartman Bridge Road.

Investigators said Benson was walking south on the side of the road when he was struck by a southbound vehicle. They did not release the name of the driver.

The incident remained under investigation last night. Police ask anyone with information to contact Lt. S.R. Eachus at 717- 291-4676.
